Broadband Tech Position
I appreciate your interest in this opportunity and I would like to explain the process from here on out. First let me elaborate on the position itself. Jaguar Technologies, Inc is a service-oriented business that is responsible for the installation of residential and commercial coax for MSO’s (multiple service organizations) such as Bright House Networks. The Cocoa office is hiring specifically for residential and commercial work that includes installation of various types of equipment. We categorize our work into three basic categories, HSD, Digital Phone, and cable. Some types of equipment that you would be responsible for installation of is cable modems, Digital Phone Modems, wireless networks, commercial static I.P. routers, VOIP (voice over I.P.), HDTV, digital Boxes, and Digital Video Recorders. We our proud to say, that we install every service that Bright House offers to their subscribers. There is a tremendous amount of flexibility and control that you inherit with a job such as this. Your financial destiny and your compensation are well within your control. The more efficient that you are the more money that you earn. It really can vary how much money you make. We have some techs that earn over $1300 a week while others earn $800 a week. We offer an organization that is uniform and clear so that your success directly correlates with your productivity and quality.
We prefer but do not require any previous experience and because of this offer a program in which you can learn the trade of cable. The course primarily focuses on RF (radio frequency) Digital Phones, and PC related material. However, we find it beneficial for all applicants to have some computer experience thus allowing the individual to grasp the concepts more easily. As a contractor you will have to have certain tools such as ladder rack, cordless drill, 28 foot extension ladder, 6-8 foot ladder, tool belt and some basic hand tools. Jaguar has a tool program that allows contractors to receive the tools in advance and partial payments are deducted to repay the advance. However, we do require a minimum amount of tools when you start. While training you have a grace period where you are not charged for the use of any equipment that you receive from us until you become a contractor. Also expect to acquire safety tools to meet Bright House and OSHA regulations. You will need to provide your own transportation of a truck, SUV or van.
The majority of the work itself consists of properly routing coax cable from tap to outlet. In the installation of phone jobs you will have to route Cat 5 as well, usually from the NID to the outlet in most cases. It is also helpful to have a background that supports the understanding of residential structures. In this type of career you will have to endure the weather elements, enter attics, access crawl spaces, climb a ladder in excess heights of 28 feet, and bury and clip wire. This is a skilled trade that is physically demanding. We require you to report to the office according to the schedule set in place to reconcile equipment and work orders.
Our office is located in Cocoa and our workload is scheduled seven days a week. The shifts that we are hiring for consist of six-day work weeks or a 4 day work with intentions to offer a 5 day work week once we have enough staff. The area we service includes the north area of Brevard. We will try to keep you close to the area that you live by; however that may not always be the case due to the location of the workload. As a contractor you are classified with the IRS as 1099 and you will receive contract pay on a bi weekly basis. The pay is commission type pay, so you get paid by the work you complete. Most of our contractors earn anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000 per year. We are one of the highest paying contractors in town, if not the highest, which is why our expectations are so high in seeking contractors for this position.
Also keep in mind we perform background checks. You may look at our process and structure for contractors and consider this a bit overwhelming. However, we believe in providing our customers with the best possible service, so we want to commit to those who hold the same values and beliefs. This will ensure the success of our company and the contractors we work with. I urge you to think long and hard in becoming a contractor, because it is a commitment that should be taken seriously. We are a highly organized dynamic group that strive to continuously raise the bar here in Cocoa. If you are looking for a clean safe environment with hard working committed people, then you found it.
Please apply online and we look forward to contacting you for an interview.
